The Tooth of Buddha is one of four purported relics of Siddhartha Gautama, the historical Buddha. One of the teeth, long held at the monastery in Dantapura, was recently in the collection of Robert Galliard, a millionaire and noted collector. (How it came to be in his possession is unclear.) Legend says that Guhasiva of Kaliṅga and the king Pandu fought a war over this tooth, as the holder would have the right to rule the surrounding area.
